School owl walked into the room and looked around. Many people said that the job was cursed. School owl felt a chill go down her spine as she thought of that.
She had a tough time already. Nothing was going the way she planed. She hoped that people would enter her class soon.
She put her bags down and remembered when she was a student sitting in the back row. Ah, those were the days.
Doing something to busy her hands, she wrote on the chalk board:
Welcome to Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
Today we will be learning about the Unforgivable Curses. There are three: the Imperius Curse, the Cruciatus Curse and the Killing Curse.
They are made illegal because of the results they produce- mind control, torture and death.
The Imperius Curse ("Imperio"): Forcibly controls another person's actions. It can be fought, but it's very hard. It feels almost relaxing. Impero means to command or to rule in Latin.
The Cruciatus Curse ("Crucio"): Causes unbearable pain. Cruciatus means to torture in Latin.
The Killing Curse ("Avada Kedavra"): Causes instantaneous death. Harry James Potter is the only wizard to survive it, even though there is no counter-curse or method of blocking it.
Homework:
What is are the three Unforgivable Curses? What does Impero mean in Latin? What does Cruciatus mean in Latin? Who was the only one to survive the Killing Curse?
Please send me a private message with your answers. This is due in a week.
Smiling, she sat and waited for students to come in. School owl planned to answer any questions that would arise.
